Mary Beth Hernandez is Ballard Spahr’s Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer and a member of the firmwide Management Committee. She is responsible for overseeing, implementing, and providing strategic leadership for the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives, including communications, market intelligence, and media relations.
Ms. Hernandez is an adviser to the firm's strategic planning and cross-selling initiatives. An attorney with extensive leadership experience in business development, marketing, and sales, she also provides tactical support and counsel on issues involving client development, brand positioning, and marketing technology. Ms. Hernandez oversees a team of marketing, business development, and communications professionals across the United States and reports to the firm Chair.
Before joining Ballard Spahr, Ms. Hernandez held a senior marketing role at Paul, Weiss, where she advised on client development and cross-marketing. She served as Vice President and Global Business Director at Thomson Reuters, where she drove revenue and market share growth and served as the single point of contact for an elite group of global law firms. She also was Assistant General Counsel for Allied Building Products Corp.
Ms. Hernandez is a former journalist. An Emmy-award winning television broadcaster, Ms. Hernandez worked for FOX Sports, the Tennis Network, and NBC Sports, where she covered men's and women's ice hockey at the 2002 Olympic Games.
