Meredith Swartz Dante represents employers across industries including retail, consumer products, hospitality, financial services, technology, life sciences, health care, manufacturing, and higher education in a broad range of labor and employment disputes. She partners with clients to proactively identify issues and devise legal solutions that are specifically tailored to the client's workforce and business needs. She regularly advises clients in matters involving discrimination, whistleblower complaints and retaliation, wage and hour issues, reductions in force, restrictive covenants, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other leave laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other accessibility issues, the Fair Credit Reporting Act and related state laws, and diversity and inclusion programs. She has experience conducting audits and internal investigations, as well as defending clients in single plaintiff, class, and collective actions across the spectrum of employment laws.

Ms. Dante also advises both public and private employers on traditional labor issues, including union-organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, and unlawful picketing activity. She has experience handling interest arbitrations and grievance arbitrations, as well as representing employers before the National Labor Relations Board, Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission, New Jersey Office of Administrative Law, and Delaware Public Employment Relations Board.

Representative Matters

  • Conducts internal investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, and employee misconduct
  • Assists employers in conducting wage and hour audits
  • Represents employers in wage and hour class and collective actions
  • Represents a public utility company and health care institutions in an array of grievance arbitrations involving discipline and contract interpretation matters
  • Represents universities in union organizing campaigns and proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board
  • Represents public and private health systems in a broad range of traditional labor matters
  • Provides training on several topics, including prohibited harassment and discrimination, the FMLA, and ADA
  • Represented a manufacturer against allegations of discrimination and retaliation; obtained dismissal of the complaint
  • Represented a company in the prosecution of tortious interference, defamation, trade libel, and unfair competition claims; obtained favorable settlement for the client
  • Represented a company and its founders against allegations of unfair competition and breach of restrictive covenants; obtained favorable settlement for the client
  • Represented a hospital in litigation involving allegations of invasion of privacy and defamation in connection with an employee's termination; obtained dismissal of the complaint

Ms. Dante is a member of the firm's Hiring Committee and is actively involved in managing the firm's summer program.

Ms. Dante maintains an active pro bono practice, assisting clients in a variety of matters ranging from child adoption proceedings to internal investigations.
