Michael P. Cianfichi litigates federal and state court matters across several practice areas, including housing, construction, employment, accessibility, real estate, and commercial law. Michael also assists in Title IX investigations at colleges and universities. As a law student, he worked as a student attorney in the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic and JustAdvice clinical programs at the University of Maryland School of Law. He also worked as a law clerk in the Felony Major Crimes Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia.

Pro Bono Experience

Mr. Cianfichi actively participates in Ballard Spahr’s pro bono work. He has represented special needs children in their educational rights and assisted local non-profits in various transactional and litigation matters. He submitted several petitions to the Office of Pardon Attorney as part of the Clemency Project 2014 on behalf of non-violent felons with overly excessive sentences, which resulted in the President commuting a life sentence for one of his clients. He additionally worked on obtaining settlements for prisoner’s rights cases for prisoners who were mistreated with excessive force.
